Police said the man killed was in his 20s and from out of town. He was riding the jet ski with another family member at the time of the collision on Saturday.
SAN DIEGO — A man died Sunday from injuries sustained when he was struck by a boat while riding a jet ski Saturday evening on Mission Bay in San Diego, according to authorities.
The collision was reported just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday on the north end of Ski Beach near Mission Bay’s playground and gazebos. The man who later died was riding the jet ski with another family member at the time of the collision. He was taken to shore by the family member where CPR was performed and a pulse was eventually detected, the San Diego Police Department reported. He was taken to a hospital where he died Sunday.
Police said the man killed was in his 20s and from out of town. No identity was given as next of kin needed to be notified.
Police questioned the driver of the boat, which was taken as evidence. The investigation of the collision is ongoing. The boat driver’s name was withheld.
It was not clear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision or if charges would be filed.
