Sun Valley’s annual Wellness Festival is coming up – and unlike so many other events, it hasn’t been cancelled.
This year, organizers moved the event entirely online. It features different speakers presenting on timely topics relevant to the pandemic.
“It’s a surreal time for our world and if ever there was a time for wellness it’s now,” Andria Friesen, Sun Valley board president said. “We have worked diligently to produce our 2020 Sun Valley Wellness Event with highly relevant content and have adapted it to a virtual online format. So it is widely accessible to all, knowing that the information that will be offered is perhaps needed now more than ever.”[Festival’s cancellation leads to likely loss of millions in tourism spending]
The keynote speaker is Matthew Walker. Walker holds a Ph.D in neuropsychology and studies how sleep affects health and disease, including COVID-19.
In the lineup as well, is Dr. Seth Cohen. Cohen is a COVID-19 expert and chief of infectious disease and travel medicine at the University of Washington. Also speaking is Nora McInerny, a grief expert who had one of the top five most viewed Ted Talks of 2019.
Along with several other speakers, there will be movement and meditation classes.
Tickets for the 23rd Sun Valley Wellness Festival are on sale for $175.
Organizers have added a scholarship option for people who can’t afford to pay full price. The scholarship requires people to make a donation and give a short explanation that describes why attending would be meaningful to them. The Passholders will have access to the event until September 7. The Sun Valley Wellness Festival is taking place this weekend on August 22 and 23.
